10. 20 Queen Anne's Gate, London, SW1H: £12.65 million

The exterior of an impressive 5 storey Georgian terraced home, where a third-floor flat sold for £12.65 million.

This immaculate third floor apartment in Westminster sits on one of London’s most striking residential streets with direct views over St James’s Park.

It’s all about the detail with this home, from the bespoke European oak veneered internal doors and video entry and security systems to the electric underfloor heating and Italian marble flooring. And we’re a little obsessed with that huge dressing room in the master suite.

A large and imposing reception room with full-height windows on the far side. There is ornate furniture arranged in the middle of the room and art on the walls and ceilings.

A blue plaque asserts this property as the birthplace of Lord Palmerston, who was twice Prime Minister and popular for his foreign policy in the mid-19th Century.

Queen Anne’s Gate is full of Grade I listed houses in beautiful early-18th Century style. The average sold price on this street is £12.65 million, making it one of the most prestigious streets in Westminster.

9. 48 Manchester Street, London, W1U: £14.25 million

A double-fronted Georgian townhouse with five floors.

This Georgian home in Marylebone sold for £14.25 million this year after being listed on Zoopla by Savills.

With about 5,000 square feet over five floors, the double-fronted townhouse has been comprehensively refurbished and benefits from air conditioning, a lift to all floors and a balcony. The kitchen is a highlight of this home, set in a modern glass structure with an adjoining breakfast room and terrace.

An architecturally designed kitchen with black built-in cabinets, a pitched glass ceiling and an island with full height doors to the garden.

And on the lower ground floor is one of the fanciest guest suites you’ll ever see. It has its own entrance as well as a media room, gymnasium, utility room, bedroom suite and terrace.

The average sold price for a property in Manchester Street in the last 12 months is a huge £14.25 million. It’s located in the heart of Marylebone Village, just moments from world class restaurants and the green open spaces of Hyde Park and Regent's Park.

8. 14 Half Moon Street, London, W1J: £14.5 million

A Grade II listed townhouse with a white facade and black railings on the ground floor and around the Juliette balcony.

Next up we have this refurbished four-bedroom townhouse in Mayfair which sold for £14.5m back in June with Sotheby's Realty.

This Grade II listed home’s famous reputation precedes it. It was previously divided into apartments - or ‘bachelor chambers’ - where Oscar Wilde and his bohemian friends lived. In fact, the property is said to have been the setting for the first act in his ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’.

Built in the early 18th Century, the white stucco fronted home has been brought right up to date. It features a very long list of luxurious amenities, including a cinema room, gym, steam room, lift, air conditioning, private roof terrace and four expansive bedroom suites.

A large and impressive reception room with ornate furniture and double doors opening into a dining room.

Half Moon Street runs from Curzon Street in the north to Piccadilly in the south. It’s right next to Green Park and steps away from all the world-renowned restaurants, bars and shopping in Mayfair, where the average house costs £8.2 million.

7. 23 Grosvenor Crescent Mews, London, SW1X: £16.25 million

A white terraced mews house with black trim including a black garage door, black front door and black railings outside the windows.

There’s just something special about mews houses, and we’re completely wowed by this one in Central London.

What’s more, this is the only private, gated and concierge mews in all of Belgravia, hence the hefty price tag of £16.5 million.

It was recently rebuilt over a period of three years to the highest possible standards, with 4,779 square feet arranged over four floors and all served by a bespoke glass lift.

The property is flooded with light from a vast atrium while 3-metre ceiling heights give real wow factor. Fabulous entertaining space is combined with luxurious bedrooms and a superb sunny roof terrace.

A modern balcony with glass and flagstone flooring and large glass doors into the home.

Grosvenor Crescent Mews is a haven of privacy and quiet, with homes selling for an average £10.75 million in the last year. It’s located only a stone’s throw from both Knightsbridge and Hyde Park, with The Berkeley and Lanesborough hotels round the corner.

3. 28 Tregunter Road, London, SW10: £18 million

A substantial end-terrace period home dating back to the 1860s. There is a large tree in the front walled garden.

We’re back in SW10 next with this elegant 8,000 square foot family home on Tregunter Road, where the average house price is currently £20 million.

The outstanding property was built during the early 1860s as part of The Boltons, that glamorous Chelsea precinct we’ve already visited once on our list.

But the home was completely rebuilt in recent years - conceived, designed and fully furnished by celebrated architect and interior designer Rabih Hage. It offers generous proportions, outstanding amenities, and unparalleled family and entertaining space on one of the most desirable streets in Chelsea.

This area is principally made up of substantial family houses and located around the corner from Gilston Road, The Little Boltons and The Boltons. The location also affords easy access to the world famous international bars, restaurants and shopping that central London has to offer.

2. 53 Avenue Road, London, NW8: £22.5 million

Okay, we’re getting into silly money now (as if we weren’t already) - this rare double-fronted home in St John’s Wood sold for £22.5 million this year.

That makes it one of the best houses on Avenue Road, where properties sold for an average £6.4 million in 2023.

It’s perched on one of the widest plots on the street and boasts more than 7,578 square feet of interior space and 5,900 square feet of outside space.

The listing agent Sothebys described it as having phenomenal refurbishment and redevelopment potential, but we’d happily take it how it is. There’s a total sense of grandeur, from the imposing entrance hall to the ornate reception rooms and fabulous rear garden.

Avenue Road is one of St John’s Wood’s premier roads and close to the high street, underground station (Jubilee Line), Regent’s Park and Mayfair.

1. 60 Addison Road, London, W14: £25 million

And here we have it: 60 Addison Road was the most expensive house sold on Zoopla this year, with a whopping £25 million price tag.

Rebuilt in the early 2010s behind a Victorian façade, this exceptional family home in Holland Park has incredible entertaining space and leisure facilities. Even if blue swirls aren't your style.

The latest sale data hasn’t reached us from HM Land Registry yet, but you can see plenty of photos from 2019. There’s a 40 foot indoor swimming pool, gym, cinema, passenger lift serving all floors and a carriage driveway with steel automated security gates.

Addison Road is one of the most sought-after streets in the area with an average house price of £7.7 million. The open space of Holland Park and the bars, restaurants and shops of High Street Kensington and Notting Hill are only a short walk away.

Maybe if we ask Father Christmas really nicely…?
