Zoopla announces new hiring spree in Product & Technology

27th July 2020

  • 50 new roles created as part of Zoopla’s commitment to fostering highly-skilled talent in Product & Technology, second major wave of hiring in 12 months

  • New hires means Zoopla’s tech team has grown by 34% since October 2019

  • Zoopla recently completed hiring for its first ever Software Engineering apprenticeship

Zoopla, the UK’s most comprehensive property destination, is set to hire an additional 50 experts for its Product & Technology team. The ambitious hiring drive reflects the company’s emphasis on innovation and its goal to offer its customers an ever-improving range of products and services.

Dave Wascha, Zoopla’s Chief Product & Technology Officer, said: “Zoopla has a once-in-a-career opportunity to reinvent the way people buy, rent and sell property and the recruitment of these talented experts will be crucial for us to achieve this goal. The new hires join a team already bolstered with senior leaders with experience from some of the UK’s most innovative companies who are having fun and working hard to meet Zoopla’s ambitious goal of revolutionising the property industry.

“We know it is a difficult time for the tech industry at the moment with many companies no longer recruiting. We want the tech community to know that we are very much open for business and that if you are ambitious, smart and obsessed with developing industry-changing products, Zoopla is the perfect place for you to call home.”

The company is looking for specialists in Product, Engineering - Front End, Back End and Quality  as well as Design, amongst other fields. The hires will be expected to be curious and willing to learn how to use new systems and techniques while having a real impact on reinventing an industry. The new hires will be based at Zoopla’s London office, a short walk from Tower Bridge, and along with a competitive salary will enjoy a raft of benefits including an enhanced ride to work scheme.

Last year Zoopla announced plans to create a raft of new roles in 2020 including dozens of specialist roles in its Product & Technology teams. This announcement was followed by news in February that Zoopla has launched its first apprenticeship in Software Engineering, in conjunction with the Tech She Can Charter, with ten roles available. The company recently completed the hiring process for these apprentices with 70% of the roles being awarded to female candidates. This is part of Zoopla’s wider efforts to help more females enter the world of technology, reflected in the fact that since October 2019 42% of the company’s hires in Product & Technology have been female, a figure Zoopla is looking to improve with this new raft of hires.

Founded in 2007, Zoopla is a successful, multi-tiered property business offering services to renters, buyers, sellers and landlords. The company returned to private ownership in July 2018 after a purchase by a group led by global private equity firm Silver Lake. Since the purchase a new leadership team has been implementing a focused strategy investing substantially in talent, technology, marketing and sales to help Zoopla enhance the service it offers consumers and to meet its ambitious growth plans.

Hello. We're Zoopla. A property website and app.

We know you're not just looking for a place to live. You're looking for a home.

Yeah, we've got over a million properties for you to browse.

Tools that let you filter them in all kinds of clever ways.

Because that first flat won't just be a 'great investment opportunity'.

It'll be the feeling of starting out on your own.

That extra bedroom won't just mean another £20K on the re-sale price, it'll mean having your sister over to stay.

And that bungalow won't just be a way to release some equity, it will be a chance to spend more time with the grandkids.

We know that searching for a home is about more than just checking its price, location and features (important as all those things are).

What really matters is how it makes you feel.

We know what a home is really worth.

So let us help you find yours.
