Zoopla.co.uk launches UK's first online property archive

4th February 2011

Leading property search and information company Zoopla.co.uk has today launched a unique feature on its website - 'The Zoopla Property Archive' - allowing users to view archived property listings records and designed to empower them with even more information to help make better property-related decisions.

Zoopla.co.uk, which combines current property listings for sale and to rent with market value data including free value estimates for every UK home, has rapidly become one of the leading online destinations for consumers to conduct both their property search and property research. By now adding the ability to see millions of property listings details from the past, Zoopla.co.uk is taking property research and virtual curtain twitching to a whole new level.

The unique archive already has over 2 million historic listing records from across the UK and covers properties that have been on the market for either sale or rent at some time in the last 10 years. The archived records contain photos, descriptions, asking prices and listing dates and can be found in the 'Home Values' section of the Zoopla.co.uk website, marked with an 'H' to indicate a historic listing record.

Zoopla.co.uk already provides free access to sold house price information for over 11 million UK homes dating back to 1995 and this new tool will help users to match the property visually to the price paid at the time. As well as being a unique and informative research tool, the new Zoopla Property Archive is sure to become a must-use for the property curious who will now be able to see what their home and those of their friends and neighbours looked like in times gone by.

Alex Chesterman, Founder and CEO of Zoopla said: "We believe that one of the key benefits of the web is its ability to make useful information free and easily accessible to everyone. The launch of this innovative feature reinforces our position as the leading UK website for both property search and property research. Whilst historic property prices paid have been available online for some time, the ability to now match these to photos and descriptions of the property at that time is totally unique and will become an essential research tool for house hunters to help them make smarter property decisions."

What really matters is how it makes you feel.

We know what a home is really worth.
