Zoopla to power new property platform for Johnston Press

30th August 2011

Zoopla has today announced that it has signed an exclusive deal with leading independent media group, Johnston Press plc, whereby it will power a new classified property platform for all of Johnston’s local websites.

Johnston Press publishes 18 daily newspapers including the Yorkshire Evening Post, The Scotsman and the Portsmouth News as well as 237 weekly newspapers and over 270 local websites, with a combined reach of over 13 million people each month.

The long term strategic partnership between Zoopla and Johnston will see Zoopla extend the distribution and exposure it offers to its agent and developer members onto hundreds of leading local websites across the UK and will provide Johnston with a market-leading property offering for its sizeable website audience and property advertiser base.

The rollout of the new Zoopla-powered offering across all the Johnston websites will be a clear win for agents and developers who currently advertise on Zoopla as well as for Johnston’s audience and advertisers. Johnston will significantly increase the promotion of its online property offering through all of its newspapers and websites once the new service is launched.

Alex Chesterman, Founder & CEO of Zoopla added:: “We are very excited to be embarking on this strategic relationship with Johnston Press, one of the UK’s leading regional media groups. The addition of our property functionality across their significant network of local websites is a natural fit which will provide clear benefits to the Johnston audience and to our members.”

Henry Faure Walker, Digital & Business Development Director, Johnston Press, said:: “Zoopla is one of the most innovative players in the online property space and this partnership will see them power an exciting new property platform for our local websites. The new platform will add further value to both our online audience and property advertisers, and we are delighted to be working with Zoopla.”
